Flannel flower - Actinotus helianthi. We've found the Queen and her ladies in waiting doesn't she look just lovely. Tomorrow we have an audience with the King.

  2. I planted a few flannel flower plants in my garden last year, and this year they have flowered beautifully.

  4. It's lovely and fluffy:) It reminds me our flowers which grow in the mountains and are called 'szarotka'

  5. I've never noticed the tips of the petals before - how they are kinda green.
    Wish I could touch it.

  6. They have such a space in our natonal psyche, the Flannel Flower. Right from an ankle biter, I had a regard for them.

  7. Winam, wow I've never thought of planting them in the garden. They would be a great garden plant.

Joo, the szarotka flowers are amazing. I searched for some images on the web.

Letty, the green tips are that extra special touch I reckon, even more unexpected than the fluffy leaves.

Julie, I saw them when I was young but only on a visit down south. They do grow in some parts of Qld apparently but I've never seen them there. I guess like Kangaroo Paw and Waratah they are well known across the nation but not necessarily seen locally.
