Gone for the summer

It is a hectic time of year with annual planning in full swing at work ... endless meetings, revisions and late nights. Add to that the frustration or rainy roads causing traffic chaos ... take for example, more than 3 hours to get into the city on Thursday morning (I arrived nearly an hour late for my meeting) or last night crawling over 2 hours from Penrith because an accident blocked the highway and the nature of our terrain doesn't allow for alternative routes.

So I am signing off for the summer. I won't be posting, reading blogs or commenting for a month or two. I will be back some time in the New Year revived and with a backlog of pics (I hope) to tide me over the tough times. Thank you all for your regular comments and I do so much enjoy reading your blogs and am always inspired by your great photographs.

During the summer break I will be going to the beach for a while so sometime after Christmas expect new pictures at Sweet Wayfaring. For today's picture we are taking a rest in my garden, now bright with its summer flowers and happy for the recent rain.

It is a wonderful time of year which I hope is a special blessing to each of you. I wish you all a marvelous Christmas and a fantastic New Year.

Words to walk with:
From the Holy Bible Isaiah 9:6-7, New King James Version.
"For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."

  1. Ah ... the blue of Hydrangeas ... add that to Jacaranda and to Agapanthus ... gorgeous ...

As is your house ... I knew there was a most valid reason for putting yourself through the commute ... woeful I reaise ... but your house and garden is to die for!

Thank you for the wishes and I feel the tenor of your poem of the day, even though the faith eludes me.

You have a house-sitter in place, no doubt ...

My kindest wishes to you and to yours ...

  4. I'm looking forward to the beach photos. It's still strange to hear you talking about summer this time of year, but I'l get used to it.
Advent is always a time of contrasts, the quiet and the contemplation alongside the busyness and the expectation. Lovely home and garden. Glad you're safe from all the weather.

  5. While we often fly in to our Sydney Accommodation to enjoy the sights of Sydney we invariably head to the Blue Mountains for some harmony and tranquility. The Norman Lindsay Gallery is always a favorite stop off and... well I could just keep going on. Needless to say the Blue Mountains is one of our favourite spots in NSW.

  7. Good to know you are back! Give me a similar clue when you are actively posting again - no matter which "letter box".

I have recreated Sydney Eye for the CDP portal and am keeping Plumbing for my creative and family efforts. Not sure if that will work, but is just the latest jiggle.

Hope the NY is good to you: NYE is a dead-loss on me as I am not a heavy enough drinker and value my peace and quiet too much!!

    All the best ...
