I found just one patch of calliopsis left. From spring to early summer their yellow cheerfulness spreads in abundance along the highway and rail corridor.
They are not a native wildflower (aka a weed).

A weed maybe but very cheery indeed.

DeleteWeeds are plants just growing in the wrong place but these are okay on the roadside and rail tracks.
ReplyDeleteThe bush care guys don't like them but I don't see them in the real bush just in the disturbed areas like the roadsides. Apparently they have been growing up this way for a hundred years.
