ReplyDeleteJulie, yes 80-100kms but the height makes the climate different, mind you just going 40 or so kms west to Penrith makes for a different climate too ... much hotter in summer and much colder winter mornings. But also being far from the madding crowd makes a difference too ... it's like we live in a different age.
The garden looks inviting, the mountains is full of great gardens. The climate ... or the people?
ReplyDeletePeter, that is an interesting question. The shape of these gardens was decided 50-100 years ago and the gardeners today reap the benefit of the mature trees. So I guess the answer is climate and people harking back to the home country ... followed by a new generation of gardeners who appreciate and nuture this style of garden.
