Theme Day: Cobblestones

This month's City Daily Photo theme is Cobblestones.  I think these are flagstones rather than cobblestones which I understand to be naturally rounded stones.  The Blue Mountains geology does not suit the creation of round stones.  These flagstones are at an old wayside inn Ambermere Rose Inn which dates from the 1830s and is now a delightful restaurant.

It is too long since I posted here, and I see no chance of me getting out and about in the mountains for at least another month so I've decided to trawl through my archives and show you the mountains in black and white.  So many iconic images of the mountains are in black and white, made famous by Harry Phillips in the 1920s and 30s.  While my images have no hope as being as good as his it will be fun to see what I turn up.

  3. These are so much easier to walk over than the genuine cobblestone anyway!

I am looking forward to the B&W Mountains, too. If I can ever return to a regular visiting schedule, rather than this gorging one a week!

  4. It's a cliche but imagine the stories these stones could tell. All those people heading west to strike it rich and then returning with broken dreams.
